UtilForge exists to make a safer online world for everyone. Keeping people safe online is a responsibility everyone shares, and UtilForge contributes free cybersecurity tools and practical guides for the public in every region of the world. Read the mission and vision.
Where it began.
It began with a family experience. Helping my mother and my father with documents on their computer showed me that nearly every online tool asks for the document to be uploaded first, and that the person using it has no way to see what happens to the file.
That led to one aim: tools where the promise can be tested by the person using it, with no technical knowledge needed and without having to trust me. Turn the internet off, and the tool still works. The purpose behind that aim is a safer online world.
Privacy has become something you rent.
Many services now sell privacy as an upgrade. Pay for the higher plan and your information is treated differently. Pay more and they promise to look less.
That is renting back something that was always yours.
These tools are sold once. There is no higher plan, because there is nothing above the one you bought. Your document stays on your computer, and the reason it stays there is not that we promise it — it is that the tool has nowhere to send it.
You never have to take our word for it.
Every UtilForge tool runs on your own phone or computer, and keeps working with the internet off once its page has loaded. The paid packs are folders of files you download and keep. That is not a reassurance. It is a test, and you can do it yourself.
Turn your internet off. Then open the tool and use it on a real document. It keeps working, because there is nothing for it to connect to. If a tool needed to send your document somewhere, that is the moment it would stop.
There is a second check underneath, for anyone who wants it. Every tool page carries one line that tells your web browser: this page may not make any connection to any web address. That means the page cannot send what you type to anyone, and your browser is the one that enforces it, not us.
It goes well beyond one family.
Anyone who has to send a document with something private in it. A lecturer writing about a student. A nurse. A person applying for a visa with every private paper they own. A reporter holding a document somebody took a risk to hand over. Someone sending a bank statement to prove where they live. A parent sorting out a will. Someone helping a mother or father who does not want to be online at all.
All of them are told to upload it first, and all of them are told that this is fine.
What these tools will not do.
They will not make anybody compliant with any rule or regulation, and they do not certify anything. That depends on how you work, not on a file you downloaded.
The tool that blacks things out turns each page into a picture, so that nothing survives underneath the black boxes. The price of doing it that way is that the finished document cannot be searched for a word, and software that reads pages aloud to people who cannot see well will not be able to read it. Every pack says what it will not do, in writing, before you open anything.
UtilForge here means utilforge.org: free cybersecurity tools for checking payments, subscriptions and private documents on your own device. Other websites use similar names, and this one is independent of them.
No outside artificial intelligence inside the tools.
No UtilForge tool uses DeepSeek or any other outside artificial intelligence model, and no tool sends what you type to an artificial intelligence company. The tools do their work on your own phone or computer.
How UtilForge is paid for.
The tools, the book and the guides are free to use. Organisations that buy the paid packs, and individual supporters who give from $5 a month, help keep UtilForge going and help more people take part safely in life online. Read how supporting works.
The one promise on this site you can test for yourself is that the document you check stays on your device. Turn the internet off and try it.
What UtilForge stands for
UtilForge.org is a digital inclusion organisation offering free cybersecurity and online safety tools and guides. Its tools are a contribution to making the online world safer for everyone, built first for the people who carry the most harm. They run on your own phone or computer, so what you type stays on your device and nobody has to take our word for it.
- Free tools for everyday safety. Checks for payments, subscriptions, private details, documents and the use of artificial intelligence.
- Nothing leaves your device. Turn the internet off and the tools still work.
- Practical guidance, no alarm. UtilForge explains what to look for and leaves the decision with you.
- Check first. Before you pay, paste, sign, send or share, a short pause protects you and the people close to you.
UtilForge is a registered 2026 Champion of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the yearly campaign led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Cybersecurity Alliance. The free tools are UtilForge’s contribution to it, and the paid packs keep them running.

If it still works, it is running on your device.
Two tools are free, with nothing to sign up for. Try one on a document you actually care about.
