Ask the artificial intelligence. Keep the names.

To get an artificial intelligence’s help with a message about real people, swap their names, phone numbers, addresses and account numbers for labels on your own device, send the swapped message, and put the real details back into the reply.

Last reviewed 2 October 2026. The people can be customers, patients, guests, students, colleagues or relatives. The steps work with any artificial intelligence, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Meta Artificial Intelligence, Grok, DeepSeek and Qwen.

Five steps with Hide Names from artificial intelligence

  1. Paste the message into Hide Names from artificial intelligence: a WhatsApp message, an email, a complaint, a staff note, a letter about a relative.
  2. Read the swapped version. Yellow labels stand in for the real details. If a name or number was missed, add it to the box called Also hide these words and swap again.
  3. Copy it into your artificial intelligence. The tool can add a short note asking the artificial intelligence to keep the labels as they are.
  4. Paste the artificial intelligence’s reply back into the tool. It puts the real details back, on your device.
  5. Keep the page open until you finish. If you close it, the list of swaps is gone.

What it finds

It finds details with a fixed shape, such as card numbers, email addresses and phone numbers, and the tool marks these Sure. It finds names from the clues around them, such as “Hi Sarah”, “My name is”, “Mr”, a signature, a WhatsApp sender, or a name beside a phone number, an email or an address. These are marked Check this.

What it can miss

A name with nothing around it can be missed, so read the swapped message before you send it. The artificial intelligence still sees the rest of the message: the complaint, the product and the amounts. Hide Names from artificial intelligence is not a legal check. It does one thing, and the details you swap never leave your device.

If the artificial intelligence does not need a detail at all, delete it before you swap. Fewer details leave less to protect.

How well it worked in testing

UtilForge wrote 70 made-up customer messages in the way people write in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, India, the United Kingdom and the United States. They held 299 names, numbers and addresses. The tool swapped all 299. It also swapped 6 things that did not need hiding, all of them a company’s own email address. That is a test on made-up messages and not a guarantee about yours.
