Four habits, one for each week from 5 to 31 October 2026, in the order the four everyday behaviours of Cybersecurity Awareness Month are listed. Each week names one action and the UtilForge guide or tool that goes with it.
The short answer. One habit a week from 5 to 31 October 2026: passwords in Week 1, a second check in Week 2, recognising and reporting suspicious messages in Week 3, and software updates in Week 4. Each week has one action and the UtilForge guide or tool that goes with it.
Last reviewed 5 October 2026. The National Cybersecurity Alliance’s email of 5 October 2026 confirms that Week 1 covers passwords and that Week 2 covers multifactor authentication. UtilForge has placed the other two behaviours in Weeks 3 and 4, in the order the National Cybersecurity Alliance lists them, and the National Cybersecurity Alliance’s own schedule may differ. The actions are UtilForge’s suggestions.
Week 1, 5 to 11 October: passwords
Action. Start with the email account. Give it a password that is at least 16 characters, different from every other, and random, ideally from a password manager.
UtilForge. Strong passwords and password managers, and the Password Habits Check.
Week 2, 12 to 18 October: a second check
Action. Turn on two-step login for the email account, then for banking and work accounts. Keep the backup codes somewhere secure.
UtilForge. Turn on two-step login.
Week 3, 19 to 25 October: recognising and reporting suspicious messages
Action. Agree one word with the family that anyone asking for money must give, and learn where a suspicious text or call is reported in the country where you live.
UtilForge. How to report a suspicious text or call, Family Safe Word, One rule for any request for money and Before You Pay.
Week 4, 26 to 31 October: software updates
Action. Open the settings of the phone and the computer, and see whether updates install automatically. The National Cybersecurity Alliance lists “Update your software” as the fourth behaviour.
UtilForge. UtilForge has no tool or guide on updates yet. The National Cybersecurity Alliance’s page is the place to read.
