Find the score you need on the remaining final (or exam) to hit a target overall. Run a what-if on a hypothetical final, or switch to weighted categories that match a syllabus. Letter cutoffs default to a simple US map and are editable.
Let w be the remaining exam’s weight as a fraction (25% → 0.25). If your current grade already covers everything except that remaining work:
needed = (goal − current × (1 − w)) / woverall = current × (1 − w) + final × w.
needed = (90 − 87 × 0.75) / 0.25 = (90 − 65.25) / 0.25 = 99%65.25 + 80 × 0.25 = 85.25% (a B on the default map).
needed = (90 − 85 × 0.80) / 0.20 = 110% — even 100% on the final only reaches 88%.
In weighted category mode, each completed category contributes score × (weight / 100). Remaining categories are solved together, assuming the same percent on each remaining row:

If remaining weight is 0, or category weights do not sum to 100%, there is no unique syllabus-faithful answer — the tool shows an error instead of rescaling in secret.
If current already represents everything except the final, use needed = (goal − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w, where w is the final’s weight as a fraction. This page substitutes your numbers and shows the steps. Weighted category mode locks completed rows and solves for the remaining category.
The required score still displays, even above 100%. A perfect final cannot hit the target under those weights. Check the “max overall if remaining = 100%” figure. Extra credit, dropped scores, and curves are not modeled.
Add a row per syllabus category. Mark the leftover work as remaining. Completed rows contribute score × weight. Required remaining score is (goal − locked) ÷ remaining weight. Weights must sum to 100%.

A 0% remaining weight cannot change the overall, so the required-score formula is refused with an error. Category weights must sum to 100% (within 0.05). The tool does not silently rescale.
The map is a simple A/B/C/D cutoff table. Edit minima to approximate bands, or type a custom target percent. GPA 4.0, UK classes, and ECTS are out of scope here.
